At Fepa, the well-being of our employees is at the heart of our mission. Not only are we assiduously dedicated to spreading a true culture of safety, but we actively prepare for critical situations.
In Europe, there are as many as 400,000 cases of cardiac arrest each year, including 60,000 in Italy alone. Unfortunately, only in 58 percent of cases are caregivers able to intervene with life-saving maneuvers, and only in 28 percent of cases is a defibrillator available. These unfavorable conditions limit survival to 8% (source: Ansa).
These data, presented in Rome on October 16 on World Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Day, prompt us to reflect on the importance of being prepared for such situations.
The way to reduce the impact of this phenomenon, which occurs most often outside of a healthcare setting, is through 3 simple steps: recognize that it is a cardiac arrest, call 118, look for a defibrillator and begin resuscitation.
Our company, which has always been sensitive to these issues, has taken concrete steps to deal with these types of emergencies.
We have recently installed four AED (Automatic External Defibrillator) units in our two plants. These defibrillators make immediate intervention possible, and having them available inside company areas increases the safety factor.
Our big thanks go to Marco, our RSPP and HSE Manager, who championed this initiative, to the volunteers of our internal first aid teams-our guardian angels-who regularly devote themselves to refresher courses, but above all to the sensitivity of our management who made this possible.
At Fepa, safety is a mission we embrace wholeheartedly, and our commitment is to ensure that everyone in the company can feel protected and safe at all times.
