Today we were awarded the “Sorba d’oro 2019“, the recognition that the Municipality of Sorbolo Mezzani gives annually on the recommendation of the “Sorbolo che produce” Commission to a company that has distinguished itself in the field of production activities.
In the presence of the President of the Emilia Romagna Region, Stefano Bonaccini, we were awarded the prize for the following reasons: “to enhance sustainable growth based on the principles of high competence, skill and passion, continuous training of its employees, and constant investment in research and innovation“. Every year we invest 10% of our turnover in projects aimed at developing and expanding our production processes, but always with particular attention to environmental protection. In the last five years we have reduced water consumption by 30%, energy consumption by 27% and gas consumption by 16%.
“A company that has grown up in the territory and with the territory, [capable] of meeting the challenges of internationalisation on competitive foreign markets, of paying attention to environmental sustainability and to the training of its workers. An acknowledgement,’ says the award citation, ‘for a company history that has its foundations in the past, is rooted in the present, but looks to the future. In fact, we started out as a craftsman’s workshop in the 1960s on the initiative of Franco Ferretti, father of the current CEO Fausto, and today we boast two production sites that together total 170,000 square metres of surface area, 70,000 of which are covered. The first is in San Polo di Torrile, while the second, in Casale di Mezzani, is equipped with the world’s largest corrugator and the first 6-colour single-pass digital printing machine.
All this and much more has allowed us to count among our customers almost all the most important and renowned companies in the food, beverage, detergent and other sectors. Our commitment to the environment, training, technology and innovation,” explains Managing Director Fausto Ferretti, “allows us to stand out for our attention to detail, our ability to create customised solutions, but also to reduce the amount of energy resources used in production and thus respect the integrity of the environment.
The President of the Region, Stefano Bonaccini, said: “Sandra Spa is a company that fits into the best context of our production fabric, which started as a small artisan business and is now able to establish itself in international markets through high professionalism and product quality, elements that lead Emilia-Romagna to be the first in the country for exports per capita. This is a well-deserved recognition for an entrepreneurial reality and a territorial context that the Region looks to in order to continue investing in internationalisation and support for businessmen, development and employment.
“Last June, immediately after I took office,” says the Mayor of Sorbolo Mezzani, Nicola Cesari, “the first plant I visited was Sandra’s. I was favourably impressed by the quality and efficiency, so today I am not surprised that the award was unanimously given. This is a company that lives in symbiosis with the territory, whose growth feeds that of our community and vice versa. It is a virtuous circle that we want to continue, because it is also thanks to this that our municipality is among the fastest growing in the province, which in turn is one of the best performing in the whole of Italy.
