Being attentive to safety at work has always been our primary commitment: we believe that it is the indispensable condition for all of us to be able to dedicate ourselves every day with passion to what we do, in order to achieve our common goal.

This focus has recently found expression in the Mezzani plant, where seismic improvement work has been completed on the industrial site. The work involved all the buildings, from the raw materials warehouse, the corrugator and converting departments, to the finished product warehouse together with the technical and accessory rooms. It was a particularly complex task due to the high level of automation and occupation of space by the technologies inside the plant. There was also a great deal of work involved in planning the interventions to allow work to be carried out without interfering with the operation of the production site. All this was made possible by the competence and dedication of our in-house team, which coordinated perfectly with the work team.

The seismic improvement of an industrial building is studied according to the worst seismic event expected in the area in terms of magnitude. The intervention consists of “tying” together the structural elements, i.e. the pillars, beams, and panels of which the industrial prefabricated building is made, using steel plates and pins, or with the use of more complex metal structures and steel tie rods. The grid that is created serves to prevent collapse or other serious damage that could occur as a result of the seismic wave.

This activity is particularly important in order to adapt industrial structures to the latest seismic requirements in the building sector, so as to ensure high safety standards for the protection of our people. A commitment that has always been central here at Sandra, and which has led us to tackle this recent challenge with passion and expertise. We have succeeded in making the Mezzani plant an extraordinary combination of art and design, without compromising on safety, sustainability, energy efficiency and innovative technologies: the perfect synthesis of the principles that have always guided us.
